Dermaplaning
Say hello to smoother, more youthful skin with our dermaplaning treatment at Solcara Health. Our dermaplaning procedure is a non-invasive skin treatment that utilizes a sterile, single-use blade to gently exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz from the surface of your skin. Dermaplaning also works wonders in reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pesky acne scars. At Solcara Health, we also use dermaplaning to prep skin for smoother makeup application and deeper skin care product penetration.
The Dermaplaning Experience
Dermaplaning is the use of a medical-grade surgical blade that gently and deliberately glides across your face at a 45-degree angle. Picture this: our skilled aestheticians delicately glide the sterile blade across your skin, effectively whisking away any unwanted facial hair and unveiling a fresh, rejuvenated you. As the blade does its magic, it also rids your skin of dead cells and debris, unblocking pores and ensuring a smooth, clear canvas.
The Perks of Dermaplaning
Our dermaplaning treatment offers a plethora of benefits. Your skin will thank you for its newfound softness and vibrancy. Just one session can remove two to three weeks of accumulated dead cells and debris. But that's just the beginning – dermaplaning stimulates collagen and elastin production, diminishing those bothersome wrinkles and fine lines.
It even enhances the absorption of skincare products like serums and moisturizers, ensuring you reap the full rewards of your daily regimen. Now the hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and other nutrients you’ve selected with care can go to work.
Plus, dermaplaning evens out any discoloration or texture irregularities, setting the stage for flawless makeup application. Without peach fuzz, your makeup will glide across your skin like butter. It will also lay flat, the way you want it to, without sticking to patches of dry skin caused by dead cells.

The Day of and After Treatment
Before Treatment – Seven days prior, we recommend avoiding waxing, bleaching, or tweezing any facial hair. Three days before, all topical products that contain common anti-aging and acne-fighting ingredients such as:
- Retinols and retinoids
- Glycolic acid
- Salicylic acid
- Alpha hydroxy acid.
Additionally, we advise patients to stay out of the sun, wear broad-spectrum sunscreen each day, and to use a gentle cleanser.
Day of - We recommend that you arrive at your session with a clean face. This means no makeup, creams, or other topical products.
After Treatment - Immediately after treatment, you’ll need to discontinue the use of most topical products for about 72 hours. A mild cleanser, gentle moisturizer, and sunscreen should be the only products you use. While you can wear makeup during this window, refraining will only help to improve your results. You should also:
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Stay out of extreme heat
- Skip the scrubs and other exfoliators

Is dermaplaning safe for all skin types?
Although this treatment is suitable for most skin types, some patients should delay their sessions. This includes those with active and/or inflamed acne or highly reactive sensitive skin. Our skilled aestheticians will assess your skin during your consultation to ensure it's the right choice for you.
Is Fotona IntimaLase® safe?
Absolutely! It's a safe and FDA-approved procedure with minimal risks. We also use the most advanced laser technology called the G-Runner which eliminates the need for manual positioning of the handpiece. This improves accuracy and precision of Er:YAG laser delivery, providing truly homogenous coverage of the vaginal mucosa tissue.
The benefits of G-Runner™ include:
• Supreme accuracy and precision of laser energy deposition in vaginal mucosa
• Easy to use, fully automatic operation
• Short treatment time
• Increased comfort for the patient and operator
Will my facial hair grow back thicker?
There is a big misconception that peach fuzz (AKA vellus hair) will grow back thicker and darker. However, this is not the case. Your facial hair will continue to grow in the exact same color, speed, and texture as before. And because peach fuzz is so fine to begin with that you won’t experience the sharp bristles that shaving causes on your legs.
Will I be more sensitive to the sun?
Absolutely. Since we are removing the top layer of skin, fresh skin cells are newly exposed and therefore more susceptible to damage and irritation. You’ll want to take sun protection seriously and make sure to wear your SPF.
How long until I can wear makeup?
We urge our patients to wait 24 to 48 hours. Your skin is finally breathing, especially if you’ve never had a deep exfoliation treatment. It’s also a blank canvas, meaning it will drink in everything you apply. An immediate layer of makeup will soak into and potentially reclog pores. For this reason, we also advise patients to wear mineral based makeup to prevent irritating the newly exposed skin cells.
How often do I need to do dermaplaning?
Most patients should have treatments every four to six weeks. Those with more sensitive skin should opt for a schedule of every six to eight weeks or, in extreme cases, once per season.
Are there are any side effects or downtime associated with dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure with minimal side effects. You may experience some redness or mild sensitivity immediately following the treatment, but it typically subsides within a few hours. There's no downtime, so you can get back to your daily activities right away.
