Downtown Charleston vs Mount Pleasant: Where to Get Concierge Longevity Care

Solcara runs two Lowcountry locations with the same labs-first care. Here is how to pick the one that fits where you live and how you want to be seen.

Care that fits your life starts with being easy to get to.
Solcara Health runs two Charleston-area locations, and the care is the same at both, so you choose by geography and fit, not by quality. The Longevity Club at 163 Rutledge Avenue sits downtown on the Charleston peninsula; the flagship at 496 Bramson Court is in Mount Pleasant, across the Cooper River. Charleston city (about 159,400 residents) and the town of Mount Pleasant (about 95,500) are two growing communities on opposite banks of that river, and we opened a second location so neither one has to make the longer drive.[4]

That is the whole decision in a sentence, but the details matter when you are the one booking. This guide lays them out: what each location is, who each one is easiest for, how the services compare, and the honest truth about what changes between them (very little) and what does not (the clinician, the labs-first approach, and the plan). If you want the downtown location in depth, our companion guide to longevity medicine downtown goes room by room; this page is about choosing between the two.

Key takeaways
  • Solcara has two locations: The Longevity Club at 163 Rutledge Avenue in downtown Charleston, and the flagship at 496 Bramson Court in Mount Pleasant. The same team and the same service menu run at both.
  • Choose by drive, not by quality. Downtown is easiest for peninsula, West Ashley and James Island patients; Mount Pleasant is easiest for East Cooper, Daniel Island and the islands.
  • Downtown Charleston is the peninsula, between the Ashley and Cooper rivers. Mount Pleasant is East Cooper, reached by the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, which carries US-17 across the Cooper.[6]
  • Concierge and longevity care is a growing field: the US concierge medicine market was about $7.35 billion in 2024 and is projected to roughly double by 2030.[1] More than 3,000 direct primary care practices now operate nationwide.[2]
  • Access is part of the care. In a national survey of adults 50 and older, 80 percent currently travel 30 minutes or less for primary care, and most would accept a longer trip for the right fit.[5]
  • Whichever location you pick, the first visit starts the same way: a real history and baseline labs before any prescription.
Section 01 / Two locations

One practice, two Lowcountry locations

Here is the part people get wrong before they call: they assume the two locations are different tiers of care, a flagship and a satellite, with the good stuff downtown or the good stuff in Mount Pleasant. They are not. Solcara at The Longevity Club and Solcara in Mount Pleasant share one clinical team, one standard, and one service menu. The same PA-C sees patients at both. The labs, the hormone work, the peptide and weight-loss programs, the aesthetics, and the primary and functional care are offered at each address.

What differs is location and feel. Mount Pleasant on Bramson Court is the original flagship, the full-service home base that East Cooper patients have driven to for years. The Longevity Club on Rutledge Avenue is the newer downtown space, opened to put the same care on the peninsula so patients downtown, in West Ashley, or on James Island do not have to cross a bridge for an appointment. One river, two addresses, identical care.

That framing should take the pressure off the choice. You are not picking a better or worse clinic. You are picking the one that is easier to get to on a Tuesday afternoon, which, as it turns out, is the factor that most decides whether people actually keep up with preventive care at all.

Section 02 / Downtown

The downtown Charleston location: Solcara at The Longevity Club

The downtown location is Solcara Health at The Longevity Club, 163 Rutledge Avenue, Suite 202, on the Charleston peninsula. It is the newer of the two spaces, designed around wellness and longevity rather than retrofitted from a standard medical office, and it brings the full Solcara service menu to the peninsula. If you live or work south of the Cooper, this is almost certainly your shorter drive.

Its address matters in a specific way. Rutledge Avenue is the recognized eastern edge of Charleston's downtown medical district, the corridor anchored by MUSC and Roper St. Francis, with MUSC's Rutledge Tower a few blocks south at 135 Rutledge.[7] Being on that corridor means the location sits where peninsula patients already think about healthcare, with the parking and access patterns of an established medical street rather than a strip center.

For who it fits: downtown residents, the West Ashley and James Island neighborhoods a short hop across the Ashley River, and anyone who works on the peninsula and would rather see a clinician near the office than drive back over a bridge after work. If that is you, the downtown location is built for your commute. For a fuller tour of the space and what longevity care looks like there, see our downtown longevity guide.

Not sure which location to book? Both run the same labs-first care with Ashley Harwyn, PA-C, and the same full service menu. Compare drive times on the service areas page, or call 843-981-0870 and we will point you to the easier one.
Section 03 / Mount Pleasant

The Mount Pleasant flagship on Bramson Court

The Mount Pleasant location is the flagship, 496 Bramson Court, Suite 120, in the 29464 corridor off the main Mount Pleasant thoroughfares. It is the original Solcara home, the full-service clinic that East Cooper patients have relied on, and it carries the complete menu: bioidentical hormone therapy, testosterone therapy, peptides, medical weight loss, functional and primary care, labs, and aesthetics under one roof.

Mount Pleasant is East Cooper, the fast-growing town on the far side of the Cooper River from downtown.[6] The flagship is the natural choice for Mount Pleasant residents, for Daniel Island (about fifteen minutes over the Wando River), and for the East Cooper islands, Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms, where crossing the connector to Bramson Court is a far shorter trip than heading downtown. It is also where many longtime patients simply prefer to be seen, because it is the office they know.

Parking is the quiet advantage here. A suburban medical office means you pull in, park, and walk in, without the peninsula's meters and one-way streets. For patients who value that ease over being downtown, Mount Pleasant wins on logistics before the visit even starts.

Section 04 / How to choose

How to choose between downtown and Mount Pleasant

Most people can decide in about thirty seconds by answering one question: which address is the easier drive from where you spend your week? Everything else is a tiebreaker. The two locations run the same clinician, the same labs-first process, and the same service menu, so there is no wrong clinical choice between them. The table below lays the practical factors side by side.

Which location fits you?

Six things to weigh

Tick the ones that are true for you. They point toward a location; the care itself is the same at both.

Two honest caveats. First, if a service needs a specific room or device, it is worth a quick call to confirm which location has it scheduled on your day; the menu is the same, but equipment and provider hours rotate. Second, if you are a new patient, pick the location you can realistically return to, because longevity care is a series of visits and lab reviews over time, not a single appointment. The right location is the one you will still find convenient in month six.

Section 05 / Getting there

Getting there: the bridge, parking, and drive times

The geography is simple once you picture the river. Downtown Charleston sits on a peninsula between the Ashley River to the west and the Cooper River to the east. Mount Pleasant is on the far, eastern side of the Cooper, which is why locals call it East Cooper. The two are joined by the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, the tall cable-stayed span that carries US-17 across the Cooper River.[6] If your choice of location means crossing that bridge at 5 p.m., that is a real and recurring cost of the trip, and it is a fair reason to pick the location on your own side of the river.

This is not a small consideration dressed up as one. Access genuinely shapes whether people keep up with care. In a national survey of adults aged 50 and older, 80 percent said they currently travel 30 minutes or less for primary care, and while most would accept a longer trip for the right clinician, a shorter drive is consistently the one people actually sustain.[5] A preventive plan only works if you keep the appointments, and the appointments are easier to keep when the office is on your side of the bridge.

So weigh it plainly. If you are downtown, in West Ashley, or on James Island, the Rutledge Avenue location saves you the bridge. If you are in Mount Pleasant, on Daniel Island, or out on the islands, Bramson Court saves you the bridge and gives you the easier parking. Pick the drive you will not come to resent, and you will keep the care.

Section 06 / Choosing locally

Choosing your Solcara location

If you are still unsure, default to geography and book the closer one; you can always be seen at the other when it is more convenient, because your chart and your clinician travel with you. Concierge and longevity care is a relationship, and the practical truth is that the best location is the one that keeps you showing up. One analysis, funded by the concierge company MDVIP and conducted on its own members, reported they were 42 to 62 percent less likely to be hospitalized than matched patients over five years.[3] Read that with its conflict of interest in mind, because it is industry-funded rather than independent, but the underlying logic is sound: care you can reach, sustained over years, is what moves the needle.

At Solcara, that care is the same whether you walk into The Longevity Club downtown or the flagship in Mount Pleasant: a licensed PA-C, baseline labs before any prescription, and a written plan you can follow. Choose the address that fits your week, and let the medicine be the part that stays constant. When you are ready, the service areas page shows the drive from your own neighborhood, or call 843-981-0870 and we will tell you which location is the shorter trip.

Ashley has practiced medicine for more than fifteen years. Her path into it began at home, with a family member born with a congenital heart defect and a childhood spent watching how much the quality of a clinician's attention could change the shape of a life. She has since practiced across a range of settings, including medical mission work in Uganda, before founding Solcara to build the kind of practice she kept wishing existed, one that treats women as whole people and tells them the truth about what the evidence does and does not support.
